One of the parent breeds, the Afghan Hound, is known to be quite sensitive to high temperatures, especially in the summer. This is an important consideration.

Originating in the hilly areas of Afghanistan, Afghan Hounds have a coat that serves as insulation against cold weather. Their vulnerability to cold weather is a result of the thin and fine coat that offers less insulation than that of other breeds. As a result, Afghan Hounds should wear extra layers of clothing, such a sweater or coat, when the weather becomes chilly.

Afghan Hounds are very sensitive to heat because of their coat and overall build. They are more likely to have trouble maintaining a comfortable core temperature in hot weather since their slim build and lengthy legs make them poor heat retainers. They are therefore more likely to get heat exhaustion and other heat-related problems. As a result, you must provide them with plenty of fresh water, shelter from the sun, and discourage them from engaging in vigorous activity when the weather is hot.

On the other hand, the second parent breed, the Collies, is recognized for its moderate activity levels and flexible coat. They are more versatile than Afghan Hounds in that they can tolerate a wider variety of temperatures. The Afollie's ability to withstand different temperatures may be impacted by this innate trait from the Collie side.

What determines the Afollie's temperature tolerance is a complex interplay of traits passed down from both parent breeds. Afollies may behave differently to different types of weather, so it's important for owners to pay attention to how their pets perform in different environments.
