Water

For the sake of your Belgian Sheepdog's health and happiness, it is essential that they always have access to clean water. No matter where your dog spends the day, it's important to make sure they drink water.

One ounce of water for every pound of body weight is a good daily goal for most dogs. On a daily basis, a Belgian Sheepdog weighing around 60 pounds would need about 60 ounces, or about 7.5 cups, of water. Keep in mind that things like exercise level, food, and environmental variables might cause individual requirements to differ.

The amount of water your Belgian Sheepdog needs is highly dependent on how active they are. To be properly hydrated, more active dogs, particularly those who exercise vigorously or spend a lot of time outside in hot weather, need to drink more water. In order to keep their body temperature in check, your dog may drink more water during the warmer months.

Water use may be influenced by one's diet as well. To make up for the reduced moisture content of their meal, dogs that mostly eat dry kibble may need to drink extra water.

In contrast, eating foods that are wet or canned may cause you to drink somewhat less water since they contain more moisture.

How much water a dog needs to drink may be affected by their health and the drugs they take. You should ask your vet whether your Belgian Sheepdog needs to change the amount of water they drink if they have any particular health issues. Dehydration symptoms include dry gums, frequent panting, lethargy, and sunken eyes; keep an eye out for these in your dog. If you think your dog could be dehydrated, make sure he drinks plenty of water and take him to the doctor if necessary.
