Origin Description

When a piebald recessive gene occurred in a pair of Yorkshire Terriers, selective breeding produced the Biewer Yorkie.

The ACH (Allgemeiner Club der Hunde Freunde Deutschland - ACH e. V.) formally recognized this breed in 1989. These days, people distinguish between Yorkshire Terriers and Biewer Yorkies.

Description

The Biewer Terrier, also known as the Biewer Yorke and the Biewer Yorkshire Terrier, is a small terrier breed with deep ties to the Yorkshire Terrier. These canines are slight but big on personality, intellect, and good times.

Although they may have traced their standard back to working dogs, modern day Yorkshire Terriers are best used as lapdogs and performed well in urban settings. Although Biewer Terriers are beloved for their bigoted and loyal natures, they may be dirty to live with due to their terrier tendencies.
