Foraging toys are designed to mimic the act of foraging for food, which is a natural activity. Turtles may make their own basic foraging toys by manipulating sealed containers, plastic balls with holes, or pieces of PVC tubing to uncover food. As a result, the turtle's brain is kept active and busy as it eats.

Turtles may develop their motor skills and problem-solving abilities with feeding puzzles, which also encourage physical exercise. Making feeding puzzles for turtles may be as simple as cutting pieces of PVC tubing and drilling holes in them, or as involved as attaching food to floating platforms or constructing shallow dishes with obstacles for the turtle to overcome.

Turtles may hide in underwater tunnels made of PVC pipe parts, and they can also use them to explore and find their way about. The turtle will have a blast swimming through and exploring a maze-like environment you create by arranging these tunnels in various ways.
