Breed Name: Black Palm Cockatoo
The Black Palm Cockatoo traces its origins to the lush rainforests of New Guinea, an island located in the southwestern Pacific Ocean. Within New Guinea, these majestic birds inhabit both the Indonesian and Papua New Guinean regions, thriving in the dense canopy of tropical forests. Their distribution also extends to nearby islands, where suitable habitats are found.
This species is deeply intertwined with the rich biodiversity of the New Guinean rainforests, relying on the abundance of resources provided by this ecosystem for their survival. Within their natural habitat, Black Palm Cockatoos can be found in various forest types, including lowland and hill forests, as well as areas with large trees suitable for nesting.
Measuring between 55 to 60 centimeters in length, with a wingspan of 90 to 100 centimeters, the Black Palm Cockatoo is one of the largest members of the cockatoo family.
Dressed predominantly in black plumage, the male Black Palm Cockatoo sports vibrant red patches on its cheeks, which serve as eye-catching adornments against its dark feathers. This combination of bold colors and striking features makes the male Black Palm Cockatoo a visually stunning bird.
