Blue betta is a tank/ aquarium fish. This species is raised by betta lovers and because of the limited population, they are rarely available in aquariums. To keep betta fish kept in an aquarium trade started in the 20th century.

Tank setup

Because of the small size A 3-gallon fish tanks is enough for them. they generally follow a standard aquarium sizing of 11.8” L x 7.9” W x 7.1” H, and weighs 111 lbs.

If you want to add a single fish in a tank, a 3-gallon tank is enough. Instead of the bowl, we recommended a large space. The condition will stay more stable, and require less maintenance. If you planning to put a pair we suggest you go to 10 10-gallon tank.

The aquarium setup is similar to the other bettas use the proper lighting and filtration they require a 3-inch layer of substrate. For a decoration purpose add live or artificial plants. Floating plants are an ideal option because Bettas will often swim under them for cover and build a nest on floating plants. For freshwater, a biological filter is a must in your tank. sometimes It will break the surface of the water to gas exchange.

Water chemistry

Maintaining water chemistry is essential for a fish's long and healthy life. The blue betta is no exception. Good water quality and maintenance of the tank leads to the long and healthy life of betta.

Regularly monitor and test the water, and change the water every 15 days to 25% water. Blue betta prefers acidic conditions around the PH value of 6.8 to 7.5. A toxin level such as ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates is 0. However, they can endure nitrate levels up to 40 ppm.

The blue betta endures hardness of at least 30 ppm, add a plant to the tank. A water hardness range between 80-120 ppm helps maintain the pH level.

What to put in the Tank

Substrate

Sand works like identically. Avoid sharp substrates that can harm the betta and sometimes torns the betta fin.

Plants

Plants not only add decoration but improve the tank water quality naturally as well as providing hiding space to the betta. Choose a plant that can survive in a tank setup such as a silk plant like Java Fern,

Decoration

For extra hiding and resting add caves or betta hammocks. Make sure that they do not have sharp edges.

Equipment and Accessories

Filter

A filter with a regular flow is necessary to keep your blue betta stress-free. Go for a sponge filter, it creates a strong water flow; a combination of biological and mechanical filter.

Lighting

A tank is illuminated with lighting. A good light will illuminate your blue betta color and help live plants grow. Just remember it’s not overcome natural sunlight. The Blue Betta Fish prefer 12 hours of UV light daily.

Temperature

Blue betta are tropical fish that grow in warm water. The temperature range is 76-80 degrees Fahrenheit. The blue betta is an ideal temperature of 78 degrees; they are mostly active during this temperature.

PH level

Betta prefers slightly acidic water. An ideal Ph range of water is 6.5 to 7.5. They can adjust in different pH levels.

Ammonia, Nitrite, and Nitrate:

A toxin level should always be 0 ppm. Nitrate can be below 20 ppm. that is maintaining by scheduling water changes and good aquarium filters.

Blue betta tank mates

When you choose blue betta tank mates, be careful even Blue Bettas are peaceful than their Siamese fighting fish still crucial.

Kuhli Loach: it is the coolest oddball fish because of its unique eel-like bodies, beady black eyes, and bristly barbells or whiskers around their mouth. Generally, they required a 20 gallon tank. The range of the water temperature is between 74 and 80ºF also they prefer silently acidic water so the PH value is between 7.0.to 8.0.

Neon tetras: Neon tetras are ideal for small aquariums. They need a large space to live around 10-gallon capability of tank size. The water temperature required between 73 to 81 F (23 to 27 C), and the PH value between 5.5 to 7.5. the hardness of water is up to 6 dGH. They prefer an omnivore diet. Their life span is around 5 years.

Tank mate to avoid

Avoid fish that are aggressive species and identical to betta. You can avoid fish that have the same look as betta fish.

A large fish also gives stress to betta.

To be stress-free; monitor your tank closely when you introduce o new tank mate. Usually, blue bettas prefer to live with a different species.
