training of the blue betta fish

Betta is not socialized fish, you can train them to do some tricks. if you train them. Bettas are clever and intelligent fish, you it is not easy to train them. Betta training is considered the most difficult. Blue betta has a short attention span, so we recommend you start training out with 5-minute sessions and way up to 10-minute sessions. Maintain a training schedule. In a short time, you can teach them interesting tricks.

Before starting training consider the following things:

A betta is a quiet observer; they can recognize you. If you spend time with Betta they recognize you. If they get to know you they come to you whenever he/she sees you.

Check that your betta is okay. Your blue betta color is blue and clear as well as fin should have no tears or holes. Your fish quickly move away and swim. A bubble on the water's surface is an indication that betta has reached sexual maturity.

You can gather a snack to encourage your betta. Purchase dried snacks like bloodworms and frozen food. This is like a potato chip to betta. Bettas also eat a mosquito larva, tubifex worms, and small crustaceans. Trat a food is great reinforcement. Not to overfeed your fish.

Wash your hands with warm water. Soap is toxic for fish. After the session, you can use handwash. The main thing is to catch the betta's attention. tap the glass and see if Betta looks at you or not. If you successfully catch the attention of the betta your betta will start to train.

Follow the finger

When you start teaching a betta start with the easiest trick. Start the training by following your fingers. For this, start by dragging your finger in a tank, until betta notices your finger. When betta reacts and approaches you give them food to encourage them. These might take time to days or weeks. But eventually, they catch you. You can repeat the process until they approach you as soon as possible.

Eat from your hand

After betta learn to swim up to your hand, and teach them to accept food directly from the hand. When you teach anything to betta make just talking to your fish, it makes a difference.

For this first catch the betta's attention lighting or sounds. Once they acknowledge you. Show a food piece and encourage them to catch it.

Teach jumping

Blue Betta is quite a good swimmer as well as an excellent jumper. You can easily train them to jump in the tank each successful attempt rewards with a treat.

Hook the food in the stick. Place the stick above the fish tank. Now try to catch the attention of the betta. If the betta notices the stick move the stick up, for food betta jumps into the water. If they successfully jump reward them with food. This trick performs when you need a lid if they jump.

As your fish notice the food on your stick approach them to take it. You can move your finger upwards. Sticking it to some distance from the water's surface when you leave the finger a betta also lives. Step by step move life your finger higher. A betta learns to jump. ensure that your fish doesn’t jump over the side.

Train betta to follow commands

Naturally, When a male betta sees another male, he flares. In a Flaring process, betta open their gills and stretch their fin as much as possible. That’s why Bettas looks double their actual size. You can teach them to do many tricks. Flaring is considered as an exercise, that helps betta to be active and prevents boredom.

Fetch a mirror and a red or capped pen. Use the same pen throughout training to easily identify. Put a small mirror and pen in the tank. Use the same pen throughout the training session. Once betta flares, place the pen next to a mirror. Repeat the process here or four times. Sometimes betta may be afraid and didn’t move. Once betta is comfortable and starts flaring replace a mirror with the pen. Give a reward when he/she is successful. Each time they flare give them food to encouragement.

Train betta swim through a hoop

For this choose a hoop or bangles. Place it the side. Move your finger where hoop is placed. Every successful attempt gives them rewards. Repeat the process until they naturally swim through the hoop.

In a starting phase take a big size of the hoop, when betta learns to swim through the hoop, gradually decrease the size of the hoop until it’s slightly larger than one inch in diameter. After they are comfortable with the hoop move the hoop farther away from the tank side. This is a difficult task so it’s taking time to teach. Encourage them. You can use pipe cleaner as a hoop; band a pipe cleaner in a round shape.
