Adult Boykin Spaniels need at least one to two hours of moderate to vigourous exercise every day for their health and happiness. It is recommended that you exercise your Boykin Spaniel at least twice a day to get the full advantages. Regular exercise is essential for this breed since they thrive on mental and physical challenge.
Puppies of the Boykin Spaniel breed have different activity requirements than full-grown dogs of the breed. Puppies shouldn't be overworked since it's bad for their growing muscles and joints if they do too much too soon. As a result, it's best to take it slow and easy with these puppies during their training sessions.
Older Boykin Spaniels, on the other hand, tend to slow down with age and need less exercise. Like young pups, adult Spaniels should not be overexercised, as their bodies may not be able to withstand such vigourous action without suffering negative consequences.
When planning exercise for your Boykin Spaniel, keep in mind that hyperactivity is not always an indicator of fitness.
Even if your Boykin Spaniel seems to have boundless energy and is always up for an adventure, don't assume that they can withstand an unexpectedly long walk of five hours. They need to gradually increase their physical activity so that their bodies can adapt.
It's important to do conditioning and training to make sure your Boykin Spaniel can manage the exercise schedule you've planned. If you want your Spaniel to easily adjust to increased amounts of exercise over time, it's ideal to start gradual training while the dog is still a young puppy. This method assures their long-term health and fitness without exposing them to unnecessary risk.
