The temperature range in which a Brug dog would thrive varies from one breed to another. In general, they prefer milder climates, which are comparable to human comfort zones. Temperatures of 60–75 degrees Fahrenheit (15–24 degrees Celsius) are generally considered appropriate for Brug dogs.
Pugs, a brachycephalic breed and a possible ancestor of Brugs, may be more vulnerable to heat waves and other severe weather conditions. Because of their flat cheeks and small nostrils, they have a harder time keeping their body temperature under control. As a result, Brug dogs should be extra careful in hot weather since they may be more prone to heat-related problems.
When the weather becomes warmer, it's important to make sure that Brug pets are cool, and have enough of drink, and shade. Because of their susceptibility to heat exhaustion and heatstroke, these dogs should not engage in vigorous activity when the temperature outside reaches its peak.
However, if the weather turns cold, Brug dogs—especially those with short or thin coats—may need extra insulation in the form of sweaters or jackets. In the winter, it is very important to make sure they have a cosy indoor spot to sleep.
Dog owners must pay close attention to their Brug's actions and make any necessary adjustments to their living space according to what they notice. Seek individualized guidance from your vet if you have particular worries about your Brug's tolerance to certain temperatures.
