If you know angelfish; you are familiar with butterfly fish, they look similar. They live in saltwater with around 120 species. They are mostly found near the Indian Ocean and Atlantic Ocean some are discovered in the Pacific Ocean.
Butterfly fish resemble angelfish from Pomacanthidae but unlike these, flat bodies which cover the spine and gills. The clad have a 7 family which are somehow related to the Priacanthidae, Acanthuroidei, and Monodactylidae
Butterfly Fish are tropical saltwater fish which belong to the family Chaetodontidae. The butterfly fish live in the freshwater and saltwater. They are an iconic inhabitation and conspicuous of coral reef environments. Their family contains a total of 130 species that represent all coral reef regions. Bannerfish and reef fish are also included in this category. They have about 129 species and 12 genera inhabit coral reefs mainly shown in the Pacific Ocean, Indian Ocean and Atlantic Ocean. Some are lives in pair the Pacific Ocean and Indian Ocean and a member of the giant genus chaetodon.
Butterfly fish is a smaller version of angel fish which comes to the angelfish family, they do not have pre-branchial spines on the operculum. Some members resemble the monotypic Moorish idol (Zanclus cornutus) of the family Zanclidae.
