Origin Description

Origin is Canaan. The Kelev Knaani, often known as the Canaan Dog, has a long and illustrious past. The ancient Israelites relied heavily on these dogs, which originated in the Middle Eastern area known as Canaan. Their primary function was to herd, protect, and provide companionship to domesticated cattle and people. Dr. Rudolphina Menzel, who in the 1930s identified the Canaan Dog's distinctive features and began a breeding program to conserve and restore the breed, was instrumental in saving the Canaan Dog from extinction.

Description

A Canaan Dog's lineage is as old as the Middle Eastern civilizations themselves. The nomadic peoples and permanent residents of the area bred these canines to be multipurpose working dogs that could survive in the arid climate.

Thousands of years ago, the Canaan Dog's ancestors lived in the historical territory of Canaan, which included what is now Israel, Palestine, Lebanon, and Jordan. The ancient Israelites prized them for their helpful companionship as well as their superior herding and guarding skills.
