Chocolate betta's perfect color is dark or light brown body color and solid yellowfin. the body and fin do not show any iridescence. If the betta color is extremely brown it looks like a black color.

A betta has green and blue colors and the body is mostly classified as yellow/green or blue/yellow bio color and multicolor.

Because of their appearance chocolate betta is popular among breeders and hobbyists, the IBC does not declare chocolate color betta a proper betta.

IBC put the betta in a bi-color category because they have the same amount of yellow and brown color. The chocolate is used to describe a different color variation.

The chocolate betta looks like a pineapple betta. A pineapple betta base color is yellow and black outlined scale. The betta is officially recognized as a non-red betta. The basic physical composition of the pineapple betta is NR1 mutation on a black scale and extended red betta; whereas chocolate betta is considered as bi- bi-color variation that looks like mustered gas betta. Mustard gas betta has a blue or green body, the chocolate betta result of the NR black gene, produces a brown phenotype.

Chocolate betta is natural or the result of genetic mutation but they come with a different color pattern and fin.

Color pattern

· Solid – no color or pattern variation, whole fish has the same color.

· Bi-color – Fins color differs from the body color which is a Bi-color.

· Cambodian – fins have a solid color whereas the body is colorless or pale in color.

· Butterfly – fins have a multiple color pattern like butterfly

· Marble – random patches and irregular patterns throughout the body and fin.

· Piebald – Pale flesh-colored face irrespective of body color.

· Full Mask – The natural color and pattern of the body are darker whereas the Face and body have the same solid color

· Dragon – main body color is solid with hard scale on the entire body

· Multicolor –multiple colors of the body and fin as well as different types of pattern

· Pastel – fin has a light shade, body remains a solid color

Breeders develop different varieties of finnage and scale:

· Veil tail – basic tail types of the bettas. uneven tail and expand finagle length; caudally fin ray split into two parts.

· · Crowntail – Fin rays are constantly increased and make a look like a large crown.

· · Combtail – Mini version of the crown tail, combination of veil tail and crown tail·

· Half Moon – the edges of the tail are straight and crisp; a80 degree rotated in a D shape creates a shape of the moon·

· Over-Halfmoon or Super Delta Tail – Caudal fin expands 180° angle (a derived breed version of the half-moons), which can be problematic to betta during the swim time because it’s difficult to swim with big fin·

· Feather tail – same as rosetail, also a rough look of the rosetail some crisp and freeze.
