Bite Force

Coton de Tulear dogs have biting forces that average between 150 and 250 PSI. It's worth noting, too, that these numbers may vary widely from dog to dog and may be lower than those reported for bigger, more stout breeds.

The bite force of a Coton de Tulear is not well-documented or studied extensively. Generally, smaller dog breeds like the Coton de Tulear are not known for having particularly strong bite forces compared to larger breeds. Their bite force is typically adapted to their size and the types of prey they would have historically encountered.

It's worth noting that a dog's personality type, level of socialization, and training all have a role in shaping their behavior, especially biting. Any dog breed may be taught to behave responsibly and appropriately in order to avoid violent conduct.

Unlike some other dog breeds that were developed for particular purposes, such as guarding or hunting, Coton de Tulears are not noted for their powerful bite. The power of their bite is roughly categorized as "moderate."
