In order to keep your Dachshund healthy and happy, it is essential to provide it with enough of clean water. All of the body's processes, including digestion, circulation, and temperature control, rely on water. Factors including Dachshund size, activity level, food, and ambient circumstances might affect how much water they require.
Half a cup to a cup of water daily is approximately the normal amount for a Dachshund weighing 11 to 16 pounds. But remember, this is just a rough outline. They may need more or less water depending on factors including temperature, activity level, and food. Your Dachshund may need more water to maintain proper hydration if it is more active, particularly in hot weather or during strenuous activity.
Due to the lack of moisture in dry kibble, Dachshunds on this diet often need more water than those on wet or canned food. Overall hydration is helped by the greater water content of wet meals.
Remember that every Dachshund is different and may have specific water requirements. Different canines have different water consumption rates. Keenly observe how much water your Dachshund drinks and how often.
It might be an indication of a more serious health concern, such diabetes, renal disease, or an infection, if they are suddenly drinking much less water than normal or continuously consuming much more water than usual. Seek advice from your vet if you see any significant changes in their water intake.
