Bettas are carnivores so feeding them proper diet and habits is essential for their health. For healthy betta focus on a vitamin-rich diet which includes meat, crustaceans, fish, and shrimp. You can serve them frozen food. Keep remembering to give them small pieces of food because they have small mouths. Offer them a variety of food so betta gets all the essential nutrition.
For healthy betta maintaining water parameters is necessary. A betta prefers a temperature range between 76 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit means silently warmer, if the temperature is lower install the heater. Maintain the toxin levels such as ammonia, niter as well as CO2 level.
Some are common diseases in palkat betta:
Injury and infection: betta is an aggressive fish so they fight with each other so they end up with injury many times Also, when you add decorations that have sharpe edges they may injure Betta. Betta have a weak immune system so they easily catch the infection which is viral or bacterial. Dragging and ripping mostly causes the fugle or fin rot infection in palkat betta.
Fin rot: It is called tail rot. This is caused by bacterial infection and symptoms are tearing of fins. The symptoms begin with small tears on the edges of the betta fin. The consequence is the loss of the whole fin.
Ich: the symptoms show a white spot on the body. It is caused by external parasites that irritate the skin. The symptom is itching on the skin, because of itching they scratch the body with an object placed in the tank, hence its name “ich.” The constant itching and scratches lead to a white spot all over the body. This also causes stress and, in extreme conditions death. Ich also caused by poor water quality.
Velvet:
Velvet symptoms are a brown coat that resembles gold dust or rust on fish skin. The velvet is caused by the excess amount of mucus in a bid to ward off parasites. To find relief they keep rubbing against the surface inside the tank to find relief. The fish might develop lesions on its skin and ulcers, they make the immune system weak which results in loss of appetite, and other diseases. Their diets consist of animal-rich protein.
Some other diseases are swimblader, bloating, constipation, and stress. Regular maintenance can prevent the dieses.
