Characteristics
A betta has discovered 70+ species, halfmoon is one of them. They are mostly found in freshwater fish native to Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Malaysia region of southeast Asia. As for geography, they are also discovered in British Columbia. Most commonly they prefer to live in shallow water which is near the Channel Islands.
Galaxy koi Betta fish grow up to be inches long on average and require a tank that’s 3 gallons in size in a pair required 10-gallon size tank. Betta fish's life span is 2 years. Betta prefers water temperatures between 76-81 F. They can survive hot weather, but cannot tolerate cold weather. If the heater is cold they require a heater to maintain temperature.
Galaxy koi betta can endure the hardness between 5 – 20. They can survive in a short space such as a bowl and live in poor quality water. They do best in small spaces but you have to change water timely. prefer warm water and slightly acidic water (pH 6.8 to 7.5). Cold water can suppress the weaker immune system and cause illnesses such as white spots, velvet, fin rot, and dropsy.
Some galaxy koi betta can be red/orange colored or golden colored with a galaxy print and yellow/golden tail. The betta have a solid blue color galaxy pattern and are covered with orange fin and golden strip. A male betta comes with a more vibrant color than a female betta. Males have a larger body and find that females.
Betta fish inhale oxygen from the air humans because of its labyrinth organ. This organ works very similar to our lungs. They gulp oxygen from the air as well as water.
They prefer animal protein in their diet. They prefer a standard diet of pellet food but you can offer them a variety of food such as small fish, brine shrimp, daphnia, bloodworms, mosquito larvae, and earthworms.
Both male and female bettas are aggressive, but the females are less intense and territorial if the space is large; female bettas are also as aggressive as males in their own territory. In nature, the betta is highly aggressive because of artificial selection, although it is violent in the wild.
Breeding is an important process for this species. Galaxy koi betta is a paternal mouth border. the male builds a bubble nest on the water's surface. Starting with courting, the male will circle the female and display vivid color. This change happens during the breeding season, the male color becomes brighter and deeper to attract the female. The male fertilizes and hatching the eggs.
Betta can live 2 years but with proper care and maintenance, they live 3-5 years.
