As we know, the giant betta is a popular aquarium fish. To keep this giant fish put in aquariums, the trend started in the 20th century.

Filtration

As you know betta is a slow-moving freshwater tropical fish. They require high-level filtration. Because of their large body, they are not freely swimming, like other betta, they have weak swimmers so, require water to survive.

Water parameters

When you put them in an aquarium; a giant betta can tolerate a temperature range between 77 – 86 degrees Fahrenheit. This fish prefers a pH value of water between 6.5 to 7.5. But it can still survive in neutral water. The recommended pH value is 5.0 to 6.5. The range of water hardness is between 5 – 20 dGH. Make sure that before stocking your fish the water is de-chlorinated.

Lighting

Giant betta fish prefer natural lighting, for the growth of the plant. They follow natural lifecycle in day and night time. Giant betta work during day time and sleep at night time. At night giant betta prefer darkness for their sleeping. If possible, avoid direct sunlight because of the rising water temperature. Instead of natural light, you can add artificial lighting in the tank.

Water heater

A giant betta cannot survive cold weather. So you have to maintain water temperature according to their suitability. During the winter use a heater to maintain a warm temparature.

Tank mate

Like other wild betta, giant betta are known for their peaceful demur so they can be good tank mates with others such as guppies. A betta feels the stress initially when they are introduced into a community tank, when you introduce a new tank mate the first few weeks closely monitor them because they are aggressive when their personal space is invaded. They share the tank with the opposite-sex pair. Male giant bettas were protective of female betta.

Tetra: Tetra is a schooling fish that belongs to the family of characidae. They are colorful, calm, and peaceful. Popular tetras include red eye, black skirt, serape and blood fins, glow lights, and neon and neon black are also good choices. The required water temperature is 75° and 80° F. The PH ranges between 6.8 to 7.8. the water hardness range between 50 – 140 ppm. They prefer 10 – 20 gallons tank capacity.

Guppies: it is also known as rainbow fish. like other same species male betta have more color and fin variety than female bettas. Generally, they required a 10-gallon tank. The range of the water temperature is between 68 and 78ºF Also they prefer silently acidic water so the PH value is between 6.5 to 8.0. The water hardness is 100 to 150 mg/l. they prefer carnivores' diet.
