Grooming

maintaining goldador coat hygiene

Grooming is essential while taking care of a Goldador. Maintaining your dog's hair and skin's health via regular grooming helps reduce shedding and protect against skin diseases.

The thick double coat that Goldadors are blessed with requires regular brushing to remove dead hair and avoid matting. Grooming your dog once or twice weekly can keep their coat shiny and healthy.

Goldadors don't need baths very often, but when they become filthy or smelly, it's important to give them a good soak. Dog-specific shampoo and conditioner are must-haves for preserving the skin and hair of your canine companion.

Furthermore, their nails tend to grow quickly and may be painful if allowed to extend beyond the corners of their hands. You should trim your dog's nails around once a month or as required, but never on the sensitive area of the nail called the quick.

Ear infections are rather common with Goldadors, therefore it's important to keep their ears clean and dry.

Once a week, it's a good idea to use a cotton ball or soft cloth to gently clean the inside of their ears.

This is also a good time to look for indicators of ear trouble, such as redness, swelling, or discharge.

Finally, the health of a Goldador's teeth and gums depends on routine dental treatment. It's a good idea to give them a once-weekly dental cleaning with a toothbrush and dog-formulated toothpaste.

Alternatively, you may help their teeth by giving them dental chews and toys. The link between you and your Goldador will be strengthened by this thorough grooming practice, which also helps maintain its physical health.
