In 1992, According to Witte and Schmidt, betta splendens was native to Southeast Asia, namely Cambodia, and Thailand. betta is found in the United States and British Columbia. The popularity of betta was discovered in tropical areas such as Australia, brazil, and the united States.

As we know halfmoon betta is freshwater tropical fish, which are living healthy in warm climates. They are surviving temperatures ranging from 72°-81° Fahrenheit (26- 28 degrees Celsius).

They prefer to live in warm water and with low levels of oxygen, they can breathe at the water's surface, just like humans. Betta inhales oxygen from the air this is possible because of the labyrinth organ. They can live with low levels of oxygen but not live in polluted water.

The ability to breathe on the water's surface makes betta fish survive without water sometimes. Despite their hardiness, this betta thrives in soft water, fresh. They eat live food that floats on water surfaces such as small insects, and mosquitoes.

Floating insect larvae from a convenient meal for them. They also eat Crustaceans and zooplankton, a wild halfmoon betta that survive on a protein diet.
