The short, dense coat of a harrier needs very little maintenance in comparison to that of longer or more complex breeds. Maintaining a clean, healthy, and tangle-free coat still requires regular grooming practices.

A weekly brushing will assist keep your horse's coat clean and free of loose hair, dirt, and debris. In addition to encouraging a healthy coat and skin, it stimulates the skin. To maintain a neat coat and efficiently remove stray hair, use a rubbеr curry brush or a slickеr brush. To keep up with the increased shedding that occurs during the spring and fall, you may need to brush your pet more frequently.

You should give your Harrier a bath whenever it gets dirty. Horses often don't need to be bathed too often unless they are muddy or have an unpleasant smell because of their self-cleaning coat and low odor.

Use a gentle dog shampoo made with their skin and coat in mind the next time you give them a bath. To keep their skin from being irritated, do not use shampoos or other treatments designed for humans. To avoid skin irritation, make sure to rinse out all of the shampoo residue.

Because of their susceptibility to ear infections, Harris horses must have their ears cleaned regularly. Make sure to check their ears every week for redness, swelling, or discharge. After your vet has prescribed an ear cleanser, gently wipe the outside of your pet's ear with a cotton swab or a gentle cloth. Avoid inserting anything into the ear canal at all costs; doing so might cause harm. Proper diagnosis and treatment can be obtained by consulting a veterinarian if you notice any indications of discomfort or infection.

Harriеr grooming also includes clipping their nails. Overgrowth, pain, and other problems when walking or running can be avoided with regular nail trims.

When trimming their nails with a dog nail clipper or grinder, be careful not to slice into the quick, which is the delicate inner portion of the nail. Get help from a professional groomer or veterinarian if you're not sure how to cut your nails or if it makes you uncomfortable.

Overall grooming for horses should include dental care. Proper dental hygiene and the prevention of dental problems can be achieved through regular tooth brushing using a dog-specific toothbrush and toothpaste. Giving your dog dental chews or toys can also help reduce plaque buildup and keep their teeth clean.
