Havamalts, like many small dog breeds, have a moderate tolerance to temperatures and are generally comfortable in a range of 10°C (50°F) to 25°C (77°F). However, it's important to note that extreme temperatures, whether hot or cold, can be challenging for them, and they may require additional protection to ensure their safety and well-being.

In colder temperatures, such as below freezing or during winter months, Havamalts are more susceptible to the cold due to their small size and relatively thin coat. They may feel discomfort or be at risk of hypothermia if exposed to prolonged periods of cold weather.

It's advisable to provide them with appropriate winter gear, such as dog sweaters or jackets, to help keep them warm during outdoor activities. Limiting their time outside in extreme cold and providing a warm and cosy indoor environment is also recommended.

Similarly, in hot temperatures, especially during the summer or in high-humidity climates, Havamalts may be more prone to overheating or heat-related illnesses. Their small size and thick coat can make it challenging for them to regulate their body temperature effectively.

It's crucial to provide them with plenty of shade, fresh water, and access to cool areas during hot weather. Avoiding strenuous exercise or walks during the hottest parts of the day is also advisable.
