Providing the Huntaway with enough insulation and protection from the elements is essential in colder temperatures, such below freezing. Either a specially built dog home with plenty of insulation or a specific room within the house where the dog may remain warm would suffice. To ensure your dog's comfort, consider providing additional bedding and blankets.

Make sure the Huntaway always has access to shade and fresh water when the weather becomes hot. During the hottest periods of the day, keep the dog out of direct sunlight and watch for symptoms of overheating, such lethargy or panting. Rest the dog in a cool, well-ventilated spot and don't put it through its paces during the hottest part of the day.
