japanese terrier love and affection

The reproductive cycle of a female Japanese Terrier, like in most dogs, is known as the estrous cycle. This cycle consists of several stages, including proestrus, estrus, diestrus, and anestrus. Understanding the different phases of the estrous cycle can help dog owners make informed decisions regarding breeding and reproductive health.

The first part of the menstrual cycle, known as the proestrus phase, typically lasts about nine or ten days. The female dog is attracted to males due to hormonal changes, but she is not ready to mate just yet. Possible symptoms include vulvar swelling and a bloody discharge

Following proestrus, the female enters the estrus phase, which is commonly referred to as "heat." This phase typically lasts around 7-10 days but can vary between individuals. It is during this period that the female is receptive to mating. The bloody discharge becomes lighter or changes colour, and the female may exhibit behaviors such as increased friendliness, restlessness, and a tendency to seek male companionship.

Mating usually occurs during the estrus phase, provided a suitable male is available. However, it's important to note that responsible breeding should be approached with careful consideration and planning, and it's advisable to consult with a veterinarian or a professional breeder for guidance.
