kishu breed obedience training guide

Kishu dogs are very smart creatures who have a strong desire to please their humans. As a result, they are skilled at picking up basic tasks like housebreaking. However, difficulties might occur with more sophisticated and widespread obedience training.

The intellect of the Kishu enables them to tackle everyday difficulties on their own, but it may also breed obstinacy and hasten the formation of habits. Furthermore, due to their innate need for social dominance, dogs often seem to educate their owners to conform to their preferences.

During training sessions, the Kishu may get quickly sidetracked due to their obstinate nature and intellect. Finding a good incentive, like a favourite food or an alluring toy, might help you stay focused. When the Kishu and its trainer have a close relationship and the teacher finds a way to get their attention, the Kishu usually does well in obedience training.

Although the Kishu Ken is renowned for its intelligence and rapid learning speed, there is a catch. Due to their innate independence, these dogs see themselves as either pack leaders or essential members of the family unit. Their tendency to do things independently might be problematic, necessitating an owner with knowledge of the breed's characteristics and expertise.

For Kishu Kens to be trained effectively, an open area like a playground, dog park, or backyard is usually necessary. During training, a leash is a must, particularly when other dogs are around, since Kishus may get aggressive. It's not a good idea to teach them in a cramped space or a tiny room; instead, giving them a large place to run about and play makes training more efficient and fun.
