The koi betta originated from Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Malaysia. Wild bettas prefer to live in freshwater which is surrounded by rice paddies, marshes, and slow-moving streams or stagnant ponds.

They are mostly discovered in south asian countries so they prefer warm environments around 80 F. If the environment is cold they become seek. Some symptoms are shown such as lifelessness, decreased appetites, and being easily affected by the infection. They prefer to eat animal-based protein and green plant-based food, as well as easy-to-find live food such as larvae and crustaceans.

They are curious and explore their surroundings. Their nature can be quite entertaining to betta lovers when they are kept in the tank.
