Properly maintained fish can live 3-4 years happily, although in some cases they survive 5-7 years. Research indicates that betta can live happily and stress-free in a large space with several gallons of water.
For healthy betta maintaining water parameters is necessary. A betta prefers a temperature range between 75 and 85 degrees Fahrenheit means silently warmer, if the temperature is lower install the heater. Good water quality and maintenance of the tank lead a healthy life. We suggest that regularly change the water. If you put in a large aquarium change the 20% of water every 15 days.

Columnar
Columnar is a chronic infection symptom shown on the body of the variety of striped bass. Under habitat conditions and maintaining water, bacteria may enter through laceration. Accelerated symptoms include damage to the fin.
Fin rot: It is called tail rot. This is caused by bacterial infection and is characterized by tearing of fins. The symptoms begin with small tears on the edges of the betta fin. The consequence is the loss of the whole fin. The reasons behind the bacterial infection are poor water quality, the low temperature which is below 78, and the build-up of toxic ammonia compounds.
Dropsy
is a viral disease that is caused by bacterial infection and poor nutrition. It is common among the fish caretakers. The symptoms are fluid buildup and the swelling of a failing organ. You can notice swollen abandoned areas and outward flaring scales.
Ich: a white patch shown on the skin. It is caused by external parasites that irritate the skin. The symptom is itching on the skin, so they try to scratch an itch by rubbing on surfaces inside the tank, hence its name “ich.” The constant itching and scratches lead to a white spot all over the body. These symptoms include stress, dullness, loss of appetite, and even death. Ich is result of poor water quality.
Hole in the head
Usually occurs because of improper nutrition and habitat cleanliness. The symptoms include small pinholes on the surface of the betta head and above its eyes. If it’s diagnosed early, it can be easily treated by the medicine. But if it’s late they end up dead.
Velvet: Velvet is caused by parasitic infection symptoms including fish skin turning into velvet brown. In several cases velvet causes death. This disease can be treated with anti-parasitic medicine.
Other common betta symptoms
Constipation: the causes of constipation are overfeeding and lack of fiber in the diet. The treatment is fasting for 2-3 days, and feeding peas as well as high-quality betta food.
Lethargic: the causes of lethargic are cold water, high PH, nitrate, nitrite level, sickness, and stress. The treatment is to maintain water temperature, the range between 76-81 Fahrenheit.
Decrease appetite: the symptoms decrease the appetite. Proper feeding quantity and schedule the feeding.
Tail biting: when the betta is bored, they bite the tail. The treatment encourages flaring and adds more decor and plants.
