Marble betta is a tank/ aquarium fish. There are a total of 73 species in betta; which are freshwater fish. They are perfect for aquarium fish.
Tank size
The ideal tank size is between 3-5 gallons. Don’t put that big-tailed fish in a small bowl. Generally, betta fish are sold in containers. The condition will stay more stable, and require less maintenance. If you are planning to put a pair we suggest you go to a 10-gallon tank. That’ll make the transfer easier if the two breed successfully. The rest of the setup is similar to providing for biological filtration; they require a 3-inch layer of substrate. You can add live or artificial plants. Floating plants are the best option because Bettas will swim under them for cover and build a nest on floating plants.
Water parameter
The water parameter is vital for a long and healthy life. Good water quality and maintenance of the tank leads to a healthy life. We suggest that water changes in a specific time duration. If you put it in a large aquarium, change 20% of the water every 15 days. Marble betta prefers acidic conditions around the PH value of 6.8 to 7.5. Toxins level should be 0, toxins are ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates. However, they can endure nitrate levels rise up 40 ppm. The marble betta has a hardness of at least 0 - 20 ppm.
What to put
Plants
Plants not only add for decoration but also improve the water quality and hiding spots. Choose a silk plant such as Java Fern, Anubis, and Cryptocoryne. Floating plant is also considered a good option.
Substrate
Sand works well for betta. Avoid sharp objects that tear their fins.
Decoration
Add a cave for extra hiding space and resting. Decoration does not have any sharp edges.
Gravel and sand
Bettas typically eat what they can fit in their mouth. Gravel is considered the best option because they have resembles like natural place because the granules are large to digest. Sand is a substitute and it gives natural habitat.
Accessories
Heater
Maintaining tank water temperature is essential. Betta needs warm water so a heater is essential. You can put heaters in the tank to keep them warm, the temperature range between 75-80.
Lighting
A tank illuminates with lights. A good light illuminates your betta color and helps the plant to grow. Marble betta prefers natural sunlight. They work during the day and sleep at night. So, arrange the light according to them.
Ammonia, Nitrite, and Nitrate:
Ammonia and nitrite are extremely toxic to fish; they should always be 0 ppm. Nitrate can be below 20 ppm. Which is managed by regular water changes and a good filtration system.
Hardness
Marble betta can tolerate a moderate range of hardness. Soft to slightly hard water is best. The general hardness ranges between 3-10 degrees and carbonate hardness should be between 2-8 degrees.
Cleanliness
Clean 25% of the water once a week and change to full water once a month. Schedule water change to prevent from rise in toxin levels.
Thermometer
To keep checking water temperature regularly.
Tank position
Do not put tank close to the window. Put them in warm place.
Ideal tank mate
Betta are aggressive in nature but they are compatible with the following species. When you put them in the same tank, you must remember that their water parameters are the same. The species avoids much interaction. So the face-off possibility becomes minimal.
Black neon tetras
Black neon tetras are suitable for small aquariums. They live in a large space. a 10-gallon capability of tank size. The water temperature required between 73 to 81 F (23 to 27 C), and the PH value between 5.5 to 7.5.
