Female Newfoundlands typically go into heat,also known as estrus, twice a year. The exact timing could vary among individuals, but on average, it occurred about every six to eight months.

During estrus, the appellate Newfoundland experiences secretion changes that grow her for effectiveness breeding and reproduction. The first rut cycle in appellate Newfoundlands typically occurs when they reach close maturity, which is ordinarily most 6 to 12 months of age.
