As an aquarium fish or pet, you have to teach them a few tips and tricks to entertain. Betta is difficult to train, some breeder says that it is difficult to train betta. Betta changes completely when they step into the aqua world. Betta fish is difficult to train. But they are super intelligent but you need little patience for them. You can teach them to do various things such as response through action such as following the movement.
A rosetail betta is difficult to move around and swim so it can be difficult to teach a trick like other bettas. You can teach them basic techniques. Before starting the training make sure that Betta is healthy and happy.
First thing you have to develop a bond with Betta so she can trust you and follow your direction. For that spend time with her as much as possible. You can offer a wide variety of food. Once she recognized you, whenever she saw you she swam toward you and observed your movement.
For training start with the catch the attention via sound and light. Ring the bell, clap, and more. If they identify sound and look at their direction you have passed the first stage of training.
Catch the betta's attention:
Signal to incorporate: Fish’s best response training when they hear a clear signal. They help know when it’s time to look for a target.
Sound and vibration: fish have lateral line organs, they react when sound and vibration. At a major aqua, fish hear their trainer walking out on catwalks and platforms indicating that food is on the way. You can do this using a bell, call, clap, or footstep. The biggest components of training are patience and consistency. Use the same signal every time.
Light/shapes: switching light is the most common signal for indoor tanks. Fish can see color, but shapes and different colors will be easy to recognize.
Now teach them to follow the directions. The simple way is to teach your betta to follow your finger. For that, put your finger in an aquarium glass or soak your fingertip in a tank. Now try to grab the attention via sound and light. May betta notice your finger or simply ignore it. If Betta notices your finger move your finger and encourage Betta to follow your command. Each following rewards them.
Start with an underwater stick, when betta notice it comes to you. move the feeding stick up and down. Move the stick slightly above the water surface. Train them to identify feeding sticks.
Finger food is the ideal option to encourage the fish. After training to swim towards hand add food on hand and teach them to take food via jumping. When you teach anything to betta, just talking to your fish, it makes a difference. Catch the betta's attention via sound and light. Once they acknowledge you. Place food on the palm. When they notice the food she jumps to catch the food. Provide a small chunk of food during the session, because uneaten food pollutes water and increases toxins in the tanks
With a little bit of practice, you betta figure out what you ask. A betta can play with the ball. If you throw the ball toward Betta, she tries to catch them via jump. conduct one training session per day. Give them sufficient time to relax. Do not force them to play. Give time to rest betta. There are some things you follow such as a starting day conducting one training session per day which is 5- 10 minutes, and sometimes you can give 2-3 sessions per day.
