General lethargy, tiredness – just looking unwell

cat general lethargy tiredness

If your cat is gaining weight, you may want to speak to your veterinarian. Some simple blood work can determine if the weight gain is from overeating or if there is an underlying health condition that needs to be addressed.

Viral or bacterial infections, such as upper respiratory infections or urinary tract infections, can cause lethargy in cats. These infections may be accompanied by symptoms like sneezing, coughing, nasal discharge, or increased thirst.

Internal or external parasites, such as fleas, ticks, or worms, can make cats feel unwell and fatigued. Common signs may include scratching, hair loss, vomiting, diarrhea, or a swollen belly.

Anemia occurs when there is a decrease in the number of red blood cells or hemoglobin in the cat's body. It can result from various causes, including underlying diseases, parasites, or nutritional deficiencies. Symptoms may include pale gums, weakness, decreased appetite, and lethargy.
