Whippets are more susceptible to frostbite than other dog breeds because of their delicate coat and lack of a double layer of fat. Essential measures include keeping a plentiful supply of cool water on hand and avoiding vigorous physical activity during the warmest portions of the day. Quick action must be taken to cool them down if you see symptoms of heat exhaustion, such as heavy panting, drooling, and lethargy.
