An earlier assumption is that non-red betta is easy to breed just like breeding yellow betta to yellow betta. But it is not 100% chance when you breed yellow betta the result is yellow betta. When breeders experiment with breeding extended red, they found that some spawned threw Cambodian and yellow fish.

The breeder further researched and crossed two yellow fish and performed F2 matching and the result was 25% yellow betta and 75% Cambodian red. They take other pairs and perform F1 matching the breeder breed half Cambodian red, 10% yellow, and 40% red betta. When they spawn two red and crossbreed then they achieve 100% Cambodian betta.

Researchers find that shades of Cambodian betta from those stripes are more yellow and cream, but look red because of the flesh coloration of Cambodian betta. The yellow betta is a result of extended red with shades of yellow. Some of the fish have the black scale of their body, known as pinnepal, which is considered one of the colorations of yellow betta. The body color is sunflower yellow and the straps of black which resemble a pineapple.
