The black orchid betta originated from Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Malaysia. Wild bettas prefer to live in fresh tropical water which is surrounded by rice paddies, marshes, and slow-moving streams or stagnant ponds.
The research on betta Vidthayanon in 2013, a Thai senior researcher and ichthyologist of biodiversity at WWF Thailand, the species is native to Thailand from the river of mae khlon river to the Chao Basin.
Most of the betta is discovered in the region of South Asia's slow-moving stream. Mostly found in freshwater or tropical fish. First, they were discovered in the southeast near to Thailand, Vietnam, and Indonesia, because of their appearance in a short period they are popular worldwide.
In 2014, a large black orchid betta population was discovered in Australia near to adelaide river and the northern territory. They are also found in tropical areas of the United States such as Texas and Florida. Similarly, in 2019 a report from Froese and Pauly discovered Betta splendens origin native to Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam.
Betta black orchids generally live in straight or slow-moving water or near the coral reef.. In Southeast Asia rice farmers, provided an ideal habitat for bettas. High temperature and slow motion shallow water cause it the evaporate, which means the pressure contains a low level of oxygen and creates a deficiency of oxygen.
In this environment changes, they inhale oxygen from the air using a special organ called a labyrinth organ. bettas prefer to live in harsh environments while others lives in fresh water. Because of the smaller population, each betta has 1.7 square meters space to live in.
During the tropical climates bettas, natural habitat is characterized by extreme and sudden movement in chemistry, water availability, and temperature. They prefer slightly acidic water ph value of 6.9 to alkaline (pH of 8.2), the minimum air temperature as low as 15 °C (59 °F) and rise as high as 40 °C (100 °F).
Consequently, black orchid betta is adaptable in harsh environments and able to tolerate a variety of harsh or toxic environments; this is a fair point to why it is a popular aquarium pet.
A male offers protection during spawning to a female black orchid and little fry; a male takes care of the fry at the earlier stage.
Black orchid betta is highly adapting environmental changes. betta can tolerate harsh water or toxic environments; this is fair point to increase their popularity as pets. The two biggest threats to the wild bettas are loss of natural habitat and water pollution. Habitat loss is the process that means natural habitat can not support the native species the place is polluted and affected by pollution as a result it can not provide the proper environment to live healthy species.
