Reproduction and Breeding
As you know butterflyfish is a social butterfly. Beautiful and easy to care betta fish is popular among fish in aquarium. Betta comes in different colors and shapes because it’s developed due to selective breeding. Elsewhere when they choose a mate they live together throughout life.
Butterflyfish reproductive behavior has been restricted to a few species, the activity same as every season, and spawning activity peaks in early spring and winter while butterflyfishes in more temperate regions spawn in midsummer, and other groups spawn throughout the year.
When the female is ready for the swan they have a swollen belly because there are egg. the male follows the female and pokes her abdomen. The pair circle each other from top to bottom. The pair swims upward and releases the sperm and eggs.
During spawning, females release hundreds of eggs. The eggs are transparent, small, and pelagic, and hatch within a few time-like days. They have a unique appearance to each other. Spawning usually occurs at dusk.
Males release the sperm and create a white cloud when release the egg. The fact is more considering breeding occurs at night. When the eggs are implanted, they release a large amount of fat which floats on the surface. Sometimes, an egg turns brown. Within 30 hours the first fry was released. When the fry is released, the parents leave them alone for free to swim.
Breeding
Butterflyfish mate for life. It means they choose a partner for life and stick with one partner throughout their life. Mating season is the same time as every season.
The female lays eggs and the male is responsible for fertilizes eggs. The betta leaves eggs without hatching and does not have time to take care of their young, so they are not great parents.
When the egg fertilizes, the male releases the fry in a new environment. This is a reason why breeding butterflies is hard.
Adults already require strict environmental control- fertilized eggs only make things harder. Breeding butterflyfish is touch and go process with aquarists having more success in caring for newborns than hatching the egg themselves.
