During the tropical climates, betta’s natural habitat is characterized by extreme and sudden movement in chemistry, water availability, and temperature. They prefer slightly acidic water ph value 6.9 to alkaline (pH of 8.2), the minimum air temperature as low as 15 °C (59 °F) and rise as high as 40 °C (100 °F).

Combtail betta is highly adapting environment changes. betta can tolerate harsh water or toxic environments; this is fair point to increase their popularity as pets. The two biggest threats to the wild bettas are loss of natural habitat and water pollution. Habitat loss is the process that means natural habitat can not support the native species the place is polluted and affected by pollution in a result it can not provide proper environment to live healthy species.
