Reproduction is important factor when you increase the population of betta. Beautiful and easy to care betta fish is popular among fish in aquarium. Betta comes with different color and shapes because it’s developed due to selective breeding.
The first step of the breeding is choose suitable breeding tank. A basic setup include three tank one is belong to male, second for female betta and third for breeding. When you set up tank you should consider tank size, decoration, equipment and safety.
For a single fish required 5 gallon size but for pair required 10gallon, provide them necessary space. The tank is not completely filled up, 3 to 5 inches water will enough. Keep the breeding tank in silent area. You can add few pieces of equipment. You will need a heater to check the temperature ideal temperature during breeding is 78°F. filtration is not necessary. Female lay the egg on bubble nest, without nest female don’t lay egg. Now comes the important part, choosing your betta breeding pair. Don’t pick randomly, select both healthy betta which increase the chance of healthy fry. A male and female are healthy and energetic fish that have a vibrant color and long impressive fins.

After spawning betta lay on the egg and rest or immediately leaves the tank. In a onetime breed they expect 30-40 eggs to be laid, some betta lay hundreds eggs.
Male betta is sallow responsible for fertilization and hatching. The male may change the location of the bubble nest. It is important to keep the tank warm and humid. You might see that male eating few eggs, don’t panic every single eggs not fertilized, betta can eat unfertilized eggs. After 36 hours , the fry will start wriggle out of their bubble nest. If eggs fall down male put the egg and put in bubble nest. A male betta keep a guard from the young fry.
The fry hatch after around 4 days. Now they will ready for first time feed. Now fry remove from the tank. The fry will need special design food because they are too small then regular fish food. Once the betta fry swimming themselves. Make sure them feed the baby betta nutritious diet such as mini worms, infusoriac and vinegar eels. As they grow they rich high protein food such as baby brine shrimp.
